I have a question about our Laurel Leaf Willow tree. It is 24 years old and did wonderfully until 6 or 7 years ago. It gives off a fluff from June through the summer. The seed packets are still on, with constant fluff around them and the fluff is a constant bother, flying in the air, and landing on the ground.....Why is this happening, is it something we can change to prevent it? It is a lovely tree, shape and size, but this irritant may mean it has to come down. Please help!

It is a buoyancy aid for the tiny seeds, helps them blow away in the wind. Sorry, nothing you can do about it.

Oh wow that tree is going to look amazing in a few more decades, they are gorgeous specimens. Odd how a plants sexuality can be so beautiful and appealing to us as certain times as in "pretty" blooms or tasty fruit, but other times it can be a nuisance and an irritant. I say leave it be, maybe as it gets taller and higher in the sky the fluff will blow farther away from your home!
