Could someone help me identify this plant with its star-shaped pod (or possible flower)?

It is a bush-like plant that I saw growing at a fairly high elevation at the base of a mountain behind Bongjeong-sa Temple, Chungcheongnam Province, South Korea.

These photos were taken on June 23, 2013.

Thank you for any help you can give!

Paeonia (tree peony). Probably P. suffruticosa.
