    Hello folks!

I need help to identify a certain species of Juncus, which i picked up in Cyprus (at Nicosia) for a research project.

Can an expert or someone here help me to identify this (attached images). Is this indeed a Hard Rush (Juncus inflexus)? Could there be another variant that has the same attribute of a Hard Rush? Currently, i can only tell that the stem is quite hard, dull green in color (not bright green) and slightly thin in comparison to the soft rush variant.

Thank you so much in advanced!

    Evey

Take a look through the species listed by the Flora of Cyprus, to see which of those matches.

It might also be worth a look through the records on iNaturalist (far from infallible, of course!); the species they have reported there are:
    Juncus acutus (12 reports)
    Juncus maritimus (6 reports)
    Juncus articulatus (1 report)
    Juncus subulatus (1 report)

I have to ask, are you in a rush to get it identified? (sorry, couldn't resist :-))

    Hello Michael,

    Thanks for the quick response!
No, i am not in the hurry but it shouldn't take weeks to identify. :-)

I am not sure if iNaturalist and Flora of Cyprus (they are both passive directories) are of good help. I think i need a professional eye/expert to have a look at my samples. I just put up more pictures here, maybe if you happen to know an expert (or you yourself?) who could advise on the species?
