Found a couple of these trees growing among my wild blueberry trees. They look like cherries, but the leaves have no teeth. The leaves grow in bunches up to seven leaves per bunch, the fruit are small reddish/black, like velvet softness. Does anyone know for sure what they are and are they edible or poisonous?

Sorry, the pic isn't clear enough to tell for sure. Cut one of the fruit open to see if it has a single stone (in which case likely a wild plum or cherry), or several seeds (in which case it isn't!).

Each fruit has between 2 and 5 yellow seeds/stones inside. The insides are loose, watery, not like an apple or crab apple.

The insides are watery, but is the fruit firm on the outside?

Yes, they are semi-firm on the outside - very dark red with a soft velvety feel. Reminds me of Holly.
