I think this is a Gymea Lily, but am not sure. This plant has several white flowers that come off a stalk that is not quite as long as the strappy leaves of this plant, which are just taller than me, at 170cm. A plant book describes a Gymea Lily as having a very long spike, several metres, up to 5 or 6m, with red flowers on it. This description does not fit my plant. The bulbs sprouted pretty efficiently, and out of 20, 15 sprouted, but I got 5 white plants that would not grow bigger than 15cm tall, due to lack of choloplasts? I have only seen one flowering of this lily, as have only been at this house for 2 years. Would anyone know what the cause of the white leaved lilies is, as well?
Flower of lily in question Here is the flower that just came out a week ago when I took the photo. I am in Biloela Queensland, spring time, and we just got a lot of rain, thankfully.
Hi there I have a plant that looks a lot like yours and it is part of the yucca familly it will grow a tall stalk or more depending on the size and age of the plant it will have very large beautifull flowers that smell amazing
