Years ago I planted some iris rhizomes in an area about 1 m x .5m If I recall correctly, some irises bloomed at first but for some years nothing has grown in the area but green leaves, about 1" wide and 1.5 feet tall. I finally dug it up and find that the soil is absolutely full of what appear to be iris rhizomes - but nothing like the rhizomes that my bearded irises have. And as I say, the leaves that emerge from them are relatively thin. Can anyone identify the iris from this photo?
