I found this plant growing in the hedgerow at the side of a narrow mountain road. At first view I thought it was a Crassulaceae, then changed my opinion considering it to be a possible member of the Euphorbiaceae family, but after cutting a stem, I found that there was no white latex. Then I considered Rubiaceae! I do not know if this is a flowering plant. All help extremely appreciated. Perhaps this plant is to be found only in Mediterranean countries. Not knowing the family, genus and species, I do not know where to start looking. The plant looks like a succulent but it isn't.

Some Linaria species may look succulent in juvenile plants.

Andrey, How right you are! I checked my archive for Linaria purpurea and found the mature plant in flower. The photographs were taken along the same road a couple of years backs. Had you not suggested Linaria these photographs of the juvenile plant would have never been identified. Again my thanks, duffy
