It's a herb because my dad and mom grow this plant in the garden each year. It's a perennial herb so I can enjoy the bitter taste in soups each year. The leaves can be used in salads but it's mostly used as an ingredient in soups. I've seen this herb grown by Italians. Name this herb if you can???? Thanks
Be careful! The foliage is usually considered slightly poisonous. A leaf or two used as a herb won't do any harm, but don't try using a lot. The ripe fruit is edible, though. http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/poison/Lyciusp.htm
