    Hello all,
please help me to identify which Pine species I have been training as a Bonsai for the past 8 years.
It started life approx. 15-20 years ago in a rock crevice on Quadra Island. The tree was transplanted to a countainer 8 years ago, it is 12" tall and has needle bundles consisting of 2 needles per bundle. The needles are approx. 3" long and has never to date produced any cones. attached are recent photos. 100_0051_00.jpg 100_1481.jpg

Shore Pine Pinus contorta subsp. contorta. The leaves are a bit longer than normal on a wild plant (perhaps because of any extra fertility you are giving it?), but the shoot form is typical of the species. If you want the leaves to be shorter, try feeding it less.

Thank-you Michael for the info. I only fertilize the tree twice during the growing season, with "Miracle Grow". Yes I would like the leaves to be shorter.
    thanks again, John.
