Hello all, My request may be a bit off the normal path, but I'm hoping for a little help if possible. I have a 1930's era German made wooden wall clock that has some type of stylized flower, herb or..? carved on the top crown piece. I have searched, without success, to identify what plant the original cabinet maker had in mind. Botany is certainly not one of my stronger suits so I thought I'd simply have to give up on my quest. Then this morning I had a (small) epiphany. Why not go to the experts for an opinion? If you could take a moment to view the attached pictures and offer your opinions, I would be very grateful. Appreciate any and all input. Kind regards, Greg
The protrusions on the side look like honey dippers. Flowers of Zingiber zerumbet, Pinecone Ginger, have a resemblance in shape.
