My husband drives a truck and was in Vero Beach Florida last week. He saw a tree with red blooms and big, long bean like pods on it. He brought one of the "beans" home. It is almost 2 feet long, about an inch across and looks like a big flat green bean. Any idea what this tree or bush is?

i agree sound slike royal poinciana. the seeds are ripe when the pod turns brown not sure if they would grow from a green pod.not real sure how long till it blooms either. i have tried to graft them a few times but its proving difficult.
