Found another plant which I have no idea . It is near to the Jerusalem artichoke which was identified by this forum Is this another kind of edible food plant ? The reason I am not familiar with the garden is because I have bought over this house since May and it is a discovery every day
People eat Rumex obtusifolius and other Rumex species too, although many of them get bitter with age. There's more info about that here http://www.eattheweeds.com/rumex-ruminations/
After I read this thread yesterday I encountered a locally oriented edible wild plant handbook at a warehouse store, dock was one of the plants included. The book mentioned eating the tender new leaves and also warned the plants contain oxalic acid. This is why deer tend to nibble tips of plants, their defensive or otherwise bad tasting chemicals are not as concentrated in the youngest portions.
