    Any identification of this spontaneously growing fast spreading tree with thorns found in multiple adjacent backyards in Memphis, TN would be greatly appreciated.

    There is more than just the black locust in your photos - that viney thing with the larger pointy-tipped leaflets is something else.
    Are you wanting to remove the tree? There are comments around on these forums about how hard that is to do. There is one at Appreciation: - Thorny issues, and spines and prickles.

    Thanks. The vine seems to insinuate along the fence and into several other trees including a couple of crêpe myrtle trees.
