    Hi,

I started growing this Hosta indoors but became very sad when it died off. However a couple of months later, it grew back, as good as new!

I have been told that they are not suitable for indoors but as you can see from the photo it is doing good, albiet, it's small.

I understand they can bloom? Can you please identify my plant and tell me if it will get flowers, also, does it require any special feeding or conditions?

    Kind Regards,

    Murray

Not well enough developed to identify. In addition to a fair number of wild species, there are thousands of garden forms of these. Nobody will be able to give you a specific name for this plant, unless when fully grown and flowering it is recognizable as a familiar cultivated species, such as Hosta sieboldiana. Even then I would want to match it with a known specimen - using side-by-side comparison - before ruling out similar garden hybrids or selected forms of the same or similar species.

Thank you for this information, Ron B

Would you hassard a guess as to how long away maturity might be?

    Cheers,

    Murray

Might bloom in a year or two, shouldn't take too long to develop.

Tony Avent, 'Cool Blue Hostas', in 'Fine Gardening' magazine (GREAT PLANTS, Volume 1):

"Just like learning to play golf, growing a mature hosta clump requires patience, as it can take from three to five years for a hosta to reach adulthood"

"I like to sow my seed indoors under lights. In spring, I pot them up and place them outdoors where they should fill a gallon-size pot and flower by summer's end"

Just in case you hadn't already figured this out. You are unlikely
to ever see a blossom indoors.

    Regards

    Oh, that's sad.

I was just experimenting to see if it would grow indoors.

Thank you for the info, Chris
