Help save my mother's dogwood

    I have a dog wood tree, that my mother planted about 10 years ago. The tree is not doing to well. Its seam to be stopped growing. Its really don't seams to be doing anything for the past few years. I'm sending pictures
    I hope it will help. the bark is split at the basic of the tree, and the are small holes where the bark is missing.
    the bark on the tree doesn't look good at all. The tree really looks SICK! My mother planted the tree years ago, She has passed away now, And I really don't want to loose the tree. Lord..I hope its not borer or Canker. PLEASE...Help me. If you can't can you please sent me information on where I can get some help
