I can't post the picture - but it is on my blog - here The picture is of the fruit and a small section of the branch. The fruit is large, pure yellow, firm, and very sweet. The fruit even resembles a miniature golden delicious apple. There is absolutely NO HINT OF RED on the fruit. Does anyone know what variety it could be? Thank you!
The Stella cherries that I buy at Granville Island (in Vancouver) are dark red, but I see on the Internet dark red ones, and yellow ones like the ones in the photo link, both being called Prunus avium 'Stella'. Wouldn't you want to know if you were buying a tree that produced smallish yellow cherries or giant red ones? Doesn't seem like very useful naming, or else some part of the name is missing.
A yellow-skinned cherry cannot be Stella: Large, heart-shaped fruit resembles Lambert; skin black, fairly susceptible to cracking in rain; flesh black, medium firm, relatively coarse; ripens with Hedelfingen --Facciola, Cornucopia II (1998, Kampong, Vista) Yellow-skinned sweet cherries available commercially at the time, listed and described by Facciola are: Bada Corum Elton Emperor Francis Gold (Described by Facciola as clear golden-yellow) Governor Wood Merton Late Rainier Royal Ann Saylor (pure, clear bright yellow) Sparkle Sue Yellow Glass (light lemon in color) Yellow Spanish
