Can anyone help me identify the tree in the pictures attached and more importantly what is wrong with it and will it recover?

Moved into our new home a month ago with a beautiful little garden filled with rhodo's, azaleas, Japanese maples and more.

However this one tree, the biggest in the yard, is dropping an incredible amount of leaves and I fear it is sick beyond repair.

It drops dozens of leaves a day. I sit with my coffee in the morning and sometimes they fall as much as one per minute, it is surreal. I have raked the area underneath once a week (In July!), collecting hundreds. It seems to be dropping new growth leaves as well as mature ones, thinning out mostly from the bottom branches but leaves all the way to the top of the tree show the same infection/ infestation on it's leaves.

    Thanks in advance

    C

They're all doing this now, shrub should be considered obsolete for planting in this region.
