I got this plant from my sister who got it at a garage sale. It dies out during the fall and comes back during the spring. It needs very little water to survive, and perfers a shaded area. It also blooms all spring and summer. I would appreciate any help in trying to figure out what kind of flower it is. Thanks in advance!

In looking up gloriosa lily on the net to find the botanic name I found references to Gloriosa superba and G. Rothschildiana. Many nurseries listed it as G. superba with 'Rothschildiana' as a cultivar. I found other references with G. Rothschildiana as a synonym and this page with them listed as two different plants. Anybody have any idea as to what the actual status of the name of this plant is, or are there two species?

Also the above link lists medicinal (herbal) uses, but I did see this page that says it is poisonous, at least in that it prevents cell division in animals and humans.
