Hawaiian Tree Stumper

    hello, I need help to identify this tree that was originally brought back to Fla. from Hawaii approx 8yrs ago. It was a seed/ pod and planted in a pot for 6yrs and did not grow well at all until it was planted in the ground 2yrs ago. Now it is about 10ft tall or more. It never flowers or fruits! The leaves resemble a maple leaf and are large, longer than a hand and wider. See photos for more help. Please help solve this dilemma.

    One possibility is Pterospermum acerifolium

    But a better thought is Aleurites moluccana (Candlenut) which shows greater diversity of leaf shape in Hawaii than in most other parts of its range (which is approximately E Indonesia and NE Australia to Hawaii).
