Grass vs. Sedge

    Ugh, I think that the most difficult plants to ID are in these families, I always confuse the two. Is this a Sawbeak Sedge (Carex stipata)?

    Sedges usually have triangular stems, and grasses have a ligule.

    Yes, this is a sedge. Similar ones grow in this region, but I cannot confirm your identification to species level. Somebody familiar with the sedges of your region may be able to tell if that one is likely.

    "Sedges have edges and rushes are round, grasses are hollow and rush all around". If it helps.
