Grass-like, 4' central stalk, 6-petal yellow flowers, green berry-like seeds

    Sorry I didn't get a picture of the flowers after they opened; you can see them closed in a couple of the attached photos. The star-shaped flowers have six petals, five fertile stamens and one longer sterile stamen.

    Before the central stalk forms, all leaves are basal, emerging from a central point. Note that the central stalk does form leaves on the bottom 2/3 or 3/4 of its length.

    Looks like Asphodeline to me.

    Yep, that looks right: Asphodeline lutea.
