This is just a general reminder that the forums software we've chosen to use gives you plenty of options for protecting your privacy. Here are some of the best ways: 1) When registering, don't use an email address for your username. If you do, I'll gladly change it for you. 2) When filling in the location field when registering, do exactly as suggested: city or region, plus country. Don't post your street address. To opt for more privacy, use a region instead of city, e.g., coastal central California, USA or northeastern British Columbia, Canada 3) The default setting upon registering is to not receive emails from other forum members. I recommend leaving this on the default setting and using the private message system instead. 4) The default setting for private messages, once you've reached the required user level, is that they are turned on. You can disable these for more privacy if you like, through "My Settings" in the upper left. Your personal email address isn't shared with the private message system. 5) If you do leave Private Messages on, you can also create Buddy / Ignore lists which will allow / prevent people that you choose from being able to contact you. 6) Exercise due caution when sharing information, either through posts on the board or in private messages.
