Flowers in Walton on Thames

We were in the UK last May / early June, and spent some time SW of London (zone 8) plus a series of other locations from Inverness to Penzance. There were a lot of plants I could not identify, and I'd be grateful to anyone who might glance at these pix and be able to advise what they are. Unreduced copies of photos are available, if necessary.

 

First one might be Cornus

 

1. Looks like Cornus. Common name Dogwood.
2. Looks like Pyracantha. Common name Firethorn.

 

Yes, they appear they may be Cornus sanguinea and Pyracantha coccinea. Thank you for your prompt response.

 

2. Trouble is that in the U.K all Pyracantha look very much the same in flower. It is only when they berry up that differences are obvious. Some have red berries, others orange or yellow. eg. P. Soleil d'Or has yellow berries.

And I'm no longer in a position to check because I'm back in Vancouver area ... I'll just put it down as "Pyracantha sp." Thanks.
