    Hi,
almost every flower bud on my C. kousa `Teutonia´ starts to open during the past days. It might be interesting to watch the bracteas maturing and the fruits ripen at the same time on the same cornus; but there will be no flowers or fruits next year, which makes me not really happy.
Does anyone know why my cornus seems to be a little bit `disbalanced´?

    Best wishes from Tyrol/Austria

Summer application of fertilizer can result in a fall bloom of spring blooming plants. The flowering next spring is reduced because of this...I frequently see it in Magnolias.

    Thanks for your reply, smivies.
The cornus does not get any fertilizer at all because of the possible fall bloom you mentioned.
In July we had quite low night-temperatures (~5-6 °C) for about two weeks. Maybe this was enough for a bloom-induction.
