There are a handful of really beautiful trees in Riverway West School Park in Burnaby, between Patterson and Sussex on Marine Drive that have always intrigued me. They are clearly visible from Marine. I've attached a couple of Google Maps screenshots as they're as good as anything I could get myself. Thanks in advance for any info!

Darn, I actually don't live anywhere near the park and just pass it rarely on transit. Very sinuous, twisted trunks. Hoped perhaps someone just knew the park and those trees?...

Look like Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) to me, or a variety or cultivar of it.

Looking at a lot of images with Google search, I think that's very probable, thanks woodschmoe. One day I'll get off the bus and go into the park and get a good look.

They should be in bloom now and smelling lovely. Why not get off the bus this afternoon?

Alas, it really is only the occasional trip on that route. But they're the sort of trees that stick with you. :)
