I love in georgia u.s found an green thick leaves plants lived off of a big tree, most of the leaves of the host tree are gone duel to winter but this plants are still green and healthy. The leaf are thicker than normal and their branches or vine ate also green, almost like some type of cacti please look at picture and help me id. Ps i know nothing about plants...
In the last shot it looks like mistletoe which is actually a parasite that roots into the branch of the tree as though it were soil. Epiphytes perch on trees without penetrating them and feeding off of them directly, except where part of a tree has died and decomposed.
Thats great thank you? It it feed of air and mists without killing the host? Amd can i cut it down i really like to pot it somehow please englighten me :)
Mistletoe is not an epiphyte, it is a parasite that roots into a live branch of a tree. If too many mistletoe plants build up on an individual tree they will begin to diminish it. If you cut the section of branch with this mistletoe in it off then the mistletoe will die when the cut branch section stops functioning.
Why no fun? Phoradendron is still a mistletoe - you can still have fun. Or did you mean not fun for the host tree?
