Can someone help me identify these plants found in a forest in East Lansing, Michigan? All of the photos are taken in October, and all of the plants are found in the understory of the forest. Thank you.
Great, that makes me more confident about the Menispermum identification then. I'll throw out an alternative for number one as well: an American elm seedling. I spent a summer doing a riverside forest plant inventory, and I vaguely recall that American elm seedlings bear a juvenile foliage like this. Julie, a possible for your #5 is Liriodendron tulipifera. The leaves should turn a bright yellow soon if that's the case, and there would likely be a mature specimen in the immediate area.
