Crab apple or hawthorne ?

    Shot these at Garry Point, Richmond, this morning.
    Some reach size of 1.5cm. Can't decide if they are
    crab apple (don't know why there crab is associated
    with apple ! ) or hawthorn.

    Crabapple - the fruit aren't in clusters the way they are in hawthorns.

    'Crab' because of the bitter, sour taste of the fruit, compared to orchard apples. Like having a bunch of live crabs in your mouth.

    Most hawthorn leaves are conspicuously lobed.
