I have just arrived back from a holiday in the Canaries and while over there noticed a beautiful tree with blue flowers. The leaves are not unlike an Aspen and the flowers are of a labiate type but a really nice blue. While there we managed to get a seed pod which had fell from it. The seed pod was very hard and brittle and was like a bag and brown in colour. Does anyone know what this tree was called because we asked a taxi driver what it was and he said it was a 'Zacaranda'. I have been on a few search engines but cannot find any tree with a similar name.

    I think that is Jacaranda.

Thanks very much Eric, that is the tree I have been trying to find the name of. We have planted the seeds and now hope that something comes of them. Once again, thank you very much.
