I have found a plant in my yard that has only one leaf on it. The entire plant is just one leaf. The top side of the leaf is green, while the underside is purple. The leaf comes out of the ground in a curled position and is slightly pointed at the top. There is usually about 3 to 4 plants located in a grouping with about 10-12 inches between each plant. The leaves are small, probably no more than 5-6 inches in length. I have found them in the shade but also in sunlight. I am sorry but I have no pictures of them. Any idea what this could be?

It is not like any hosta I have ever seen before, so I do not think that it is one. The leaves are too short to be hosta.

I googled "skunk cabbage". It is definitely not skunk cabbage. The leaves are curled like the picture I saw but much smaller. In my original post I said the leaves were 5-6 inches in length but I think I mis-spoke. The leaves are more like 3-4 inches in length and barely break the surface of the soil as they curl.
