As title I am an experienced photographer with limited plant knowledge and came across this lovely delicate specimen in Lacock Abbey gardens in England which I caught on film using my medium format Mamiya RZ 67. Can someone identify it for me please? Thank you in advance David Southwell
Hi Thanks I must say I wondered whether it was a lavateria as I had one in a garden many years ago but the flowers on this are much bigger than I had on mine. Are Alcea and lavateria related? If it helps decide which is the correct identity the flower I photographed was at least 4 inches across and the stem was very sturdy. This was the only blossom on the stem at the time I took the photograph. Is there any further information I could give to help decide which definition is appropriate? Thanks David
Yes, both are in the family Malvaceae, and closely related within the family too. PS Spellcheck for info searches: Lavatera (no 'i' ;-)
Thanks Can anyone help reach a conclusive determination of the correct definition is it -- Lavatera X Clementi or Alcea Rosea?? Thanks afain david
