Can anyone tell me what this is growing amongst my grass in my garden? Looks nasty.... Any tips for getting rid? Only seems to have appeared in the last couple of weeks....Red ants appear to love it, so it must be giving off some kind of sweet secretions....

I wondered if it might be some kind of moss spores, as there is moss growing around where it is.

Someone suggested japenese knotweed, but I really dont think it is.

    Here are some pics

A fungus or slime mold of some sort, I think.... Could be wrong, though. I'm not totally familiar with the mosses of the Old World, but I'm used to moss fruiting bodies being much more delicate than those....

Rapid growth and development suggest a slime mold, but these interesting critters aren't well-documented.

    Probably something like a stinkhorn.
