Can anyone identify this plant? Clue: It's a tree.

    I encountered this tree in a sacred grove of West Bengal. Even the locals do not know its name. The fruit is inedible. Can anyone help me identify it? Attached is a photo.

    Can you get a far-off shot showing the general shape of the tree? It reminds me of Clusia but I'm not sure if that's got old-world distribution.

    Thanks friend. It's a tree shrub. Just today I showed the picture to a botanist friend, who surmised it was Casearia sp., and most likely Casearia varica. I suspected it could be Casearia tomentosa , but the fruit of C. tomentosa , does not show that deep furrows.
