Can anyone identify these plants?

    the first on is an indoor sort of tree, and the second one is some mysterious groundcover that has started to grow recently in my garden.

    The first one is a variegated Schefflera plant, not sure about no 2

    agree with ed for the scheff. the second one...i know it. can't think of the name. it's edible, actually, even though it's considered a weed.

    Agree with scheff and the succulent. Find an old herb book for common name.

    Purslane or miner's lettuce for succulant covering the ground

    The first is a variegated Schefflera arboricola.

    The second looks like Portulaca oleracea, "purslane". ("Miner's Lettuce" is Claytonia perfoliata, something completely different.)

    Jocelyn like you, something clicked but in looking in up it seems it is abundant in omega 3 - fatty acids, whatever. Should cheer you up while trying to rid yourself of the weed. My pest is sorrel, and yes, I've made soup of it but it's not as good as the French cultivar.
