I was given a plant by a friend and he said the plant was a ficus tree but i've not ever seen a ficus tree like this one.

The leaves were green when I received the plant and in the last week or two the leaves have turned yellow and look like flowers.
Can any one tell me what plant this is?

I have attached a picture. I hope it is shown, I'm new. Thanks

    Hello floydoc,

Looks like the bracts of a gold flowered bougainvillea. You have probably seen other bougainvilleas in Florida, but the bright red and pink are more commonly grown. It's not a tree; it is an evergreen vine (it will lose its leaves in cool periods or often when moved as a potted plant).

Bougainvillea for me as well. As much a shrub as a vine, and deciduous in climates with a dry season, too
