In The Garden: can anyone help me identify this plant

Comes up in May and seems to bloom only once a year. I am in the northeast US. It seems to grow about 1 1/2 to 2 feet. Small black seeds indried pods when done flowering and flowers die from what I remember. If you know the name of this, would you also know it's care or how to propogate it. Thanks for the help

 

Looks like Baptisia australis. Common name Blue False indigo.
