Can anyone help me identify this elm-like tree?

    I've found in a small park in Empoli (near Florence) an apparently deciduous tree similar to an elm, but with some different features (especially the dark buds and the bark with some orange stripes). Web and apps suggest an elm cultivar or Carpinus turczaninowii but I have a lot of doubts.

    It is an elm, probably Ulmus pumila.
