Can anybody help me to identify this plant

    we were walking today in a natural park in Andalucia Spain. we stopped in the shade of an oak tree to have a picnic when we found this plant at the base of the tree. Can you help me to id. it.

    Very strange!! Maybe some sort of ginger???

    Huh. Very odd indeedy. Are you sure it was a flower, and not a fallen fruit?
    Otherwise, I'm with Ed - a ginger of some sort maybe???

    I'm sure there was a post last year of a similar plant in China, that was a ginger, but its "flowers" looked more like eyes. This reminds me of that...

    I don't think it was a fallen fruit. We did, gently, touch it because initially we thought it might be a fungus, but it was firmly rooted into the soil. Thanks for the suggestions I'll start looking for more info on ginger.

    Something in the Orobanchaceae, perhaps? Prior to flowering...

    Yes, this will be a saprophytic species such as one in that family.

    Hm... amazing!!! :) Could be a Cytinus sp. (C. ruber?)

    I think it's flowers are red... and this plant's flowers are white...

    Thanks, I just found some similar plants -Cytinus hypocistis ipocisto and cytinus rubens. You've been a great help thank you.
