Blue Wildflower

    Russellville, Arkansas--USA
    This plant was found on Mt. Magazine near Paris, Arkansas. Elevation about 2,500 feet. The bloom has 6 petals and in elongated form. Photos showing entire plant and then the blooms and then the leaf base. Photos taken 05-08-03. Sorry for the poorly focused pics using long lens.

    How about Camassia scilloides, the Atlantic camas?

    Looks to me to be the smaller of the two (C. scilloides), and also made the suggestion based on common name (since the other one is prairie camas) -- but, yes, it should be keyed out to confirm.

    Notice page I linked to mentions inter-gradation and also says they are sympatric. (Similarly, they are seeing C. quamash as consisting of multiple, often geographically distinct subspecies with their own combinations of leaf, flower and fruit characteristics).
