Blue monocot

    Please identify this. It is a perennial, approx 9in tall, has linear leaves, a single flowering stalk, an umbel with bracts at the bottom where the pedicels diverge, a single blue flower on each pedicel, flowers tubular with 6 lobes, about 0.25 in across. Flowering now (mid June), Mid-Atlantic, USA.

    And how about those common names? From the classical sounding "Ithuriel's spear" to "wallybasket." I'd love to know the derivation of wallybasket.
