Can anyone help ID this plant? I am in Delaware, but I think this plant is probably not native, never seen one like it before. It's growing in cracks in the sidewalk. Bush-like, about 2 feet tall, large white upright lily-like flowers, about 6 inches long and 3-4 inches across, long thin buds about 6 inches long, green spiny seed pods a little smaller than golf ball sized. Green leaves slightly serrated, young ones are velvety. Sorry, I don't have a digital camera or I'd post a photo.
Thanks guys! I looked up photos of Datura, yup, that's it. Glad I didn't pull one out to try to root it, like I wanted to.
From your name I take it that you are a mother. Datura has been taken out of some school gardens because of its effect when eaten by children. You may want to research it a bit and then decide whether you keep it. Just a thought. Margaret
