I am having this bamboo creeper for many years. its wiry stems do not grow thicker than 3mm. The feathery leaves are about 0.75cm wide & about 5cm long. I am attaching the photograph. I shall be grateful if I am informed abou the Genus & species of this Bamboo.
Do the "vines" continue to grow in length, or do they reach stop growing in length when they reach a certain maturity (usually within one season)? Is there a main stem, i.e. culm, from which leaf bearing brancehs arise from nodes? Are the leaves only found on laterals and at the end of the culm, or along the whole length? Do the leaves have distinctive petioles and stipules? Were there sheaths which concealed the emerging branches? I agree, close-ups that help answer similar questions will help enormously.
Thanks weekend gardener, The new shoots emerge from ground, forming culms. They grow to certain height & then stop. Only lateral shoots have foliage. The new shoots do have sheaths. Unfortunatley my camera is dead. As soon as I get the closeup snaps, I shall post them. Thanks again.
Hello Weekend Gardener, I am sending herewith a close-up of new shoot emerging. You can clearly see the sheaths. I am absolutely sure that it is a bamboo, but what is the scientific name?
