    Rain torrential so pic showing whole shrub bit blurred . Sorry.

    Vigorous shrub.
    No flowers, no fruits/seeds/berries.
    Just leaves.
    Been pollarded at some stage so fat trunk at bottom.

    Found in a walled garden at House of Dun .National Trust Scotland....near Montrose. Angus. Scotland.

    Thank you so much Ron. I appreciate your expert knowledge.

    Well well.
    I would never have even considered Forsythia.
    But that would fit.
    That would account for complete lack of flowers.
    This one at some stage had had the whole head chopped of.
    Very vigorous thug.

    Never seen one before.
    Never seen such a tall Forsythia.
    Never seen a trifoliate Forsythia before!

    Must try and get back next spring to see the flowers.

    Details 'Nymans' is a large, spreading, deciduous shrub to about 3m. Leaves are mid- to dark green, usually three lobed, and flushed bronze-purple in spring. Small clusters of primrose-yellow flowers appear all along the branches in early to mid-spring.

    "Pruning Forsythia
    Prune just after flowering by removing some of the old wood. If it gets out of hand it can be cut back hard but will take a couple of years to fully recover and flower."
