Are these orchids?

    And you just might receive more than you expect! I just received this from Dave Horak. As you'll read, Dave is well qualified to make this determination.

    "I am sure that others have probably responded to the orchid/aroid
    puzzle. I cannot speak to the identity of the Anthurium in the photo of
    the UBC forum link, but the orchid in the photo is very likely a
    Stanhopea species that has pendant inflorescences of large flowers-all
    of which are wonderful. It could be a couple of other things but it
    almost certainly is a Stanhopea sp.

    Just so we can nail the lid tight on the Anthurium, I got a note today from one of Miami's brightest and most respected Anthurium growers. He indicated the infructescence could also be from Anthurium vittarifolium. That species has pendulous strap leaves so it should be easy to confirm. But let's just be sure! A gracile will have upright leaves.

    It's A. gracile, then. Leaves are not pendulous at all...
