Found some plants while on a hike in Anza-Borrego that I was unable to identify.

#3 may be Hyptis emoryi, I am not sure

From further research (using a plant list for anza borrego), it appears that 4 & 5 are cryptanthas, probably muricata. Your hint that it was in Boraginaceae helped. #3 appears to be Phacelia distans. 2 was Sisymbrium irio. Thank you for your help.

#1 looks like a species of Oenothera.

The fruiting calyces are too long and narrow for muricata. I don't know the desert species very well but muricata is common here on the coast and the fruit + calyx are nearly spherical.
