Another from 2007

    Here is another I did not manage to get an ID on last year.
    It was growing from a rotted maple stump.

    Maybe sheep sorrel, R. acetosella

    Hmnn. It was the yellow blooms that made me think it was something of a different sorrel. Sorrel is common here and maybe I just haven't been paying attention but I took it for granted that the blooms are normally red-maroon.
    I admit I never really did a close examination though......

    Agree with Sheep's Sorrel Rumex acetosella. At least around here, the flower/fruit colour depends on sun intensity, with redder plants in full sun, greener/yellower plants in shade.

    That makes sense Michael as this particular plant was amongst trees, albeit scattered, but none-the-less providing shade.
