Hi: Does anyone know what these are? The buds I photographed in Lighthouse Park at the end of May, and the pink flowers in the middle of May somewhere in West Van. Thanks, Michelle
2. The hairy calyx and hairy leaf make me think it is Pulmonaria rubra.A photo of the whole plant would help.Common name is Lungwort.
1. Try checking Gaultheria shallon. Again a photo of the whole shrub, leaves etc would really help.Other name is Salal.
Alas, these are the only photos I have. But I have cropped the second one for a closer look at the leaves. I can't remember the shrub, if it were large or close to the ground. The first one (the pink balls), from Stanley Park, was a large shrub: the top was about 4 feet from the ground and the shrub was quite spread out.
