An oak?

Hi guys,

Was out walking today in chilliwack not all that far from the fraser river. I've been wanting to see some oak but have failed to find any until now? Can you please confirm what this little tree is? Thank you.

Yes, it is an Oak. My better educated colleagues will tell you what kind.

 

Quercus robur. It seeds out in this region.

 

It could be a Garry Oak. They are indigenous to the Pacific Northwest.

Ditto to Pedunculate Oak Quercus robur. The very small lobes at the base of each leaf (called 'auricles') distinguish this from other oaks.
