In The Garden: Acanthus?

    Edenbridge,Kent England
    I was given the plant in the photo by a customer (I am a gardener).
    I assumed it was an Acanthus but unlike the other Acanthus in my garden it has not died down in this cold Winter and has beautiful glossy dark green leaves. It also seems to enjoy standing in a tray of rain water. I.D. welcome please.
