Hello, people from the forum, this is my first post, if i do something wrong, like posting this thread in the wrong place, please, let me know. I live in Spain, in a city called Zaragoza, it's in the middle of a dessert in the north, a very interesting botany place, because it's so dry all the year, very hot in summer and very cold in winter, that plants are truly strange. I have a question, but it's related to a plant that grows in the garden, so it's not a local plant, but a gardening one. The person that told me to help him identify the flower told me that it's very very tall and almost touches the roof. It's an outdoor garden plant. The flower reminds me to the hibiscus siriacus but the hibiscus is not that tall. It's not a plant of mine, i only have this picture, i hope you can tell me the name with this photo only. Thanks in advance!
Looks like the stamens are separate from the pistil - I thought the stamens are attached to the pistils in hibiscus. The flowers resemble those of Schlumbergera bridgessii, the Christmas cactus. But I have no idea how big those can grow up to out doors. I agree, we need pictures of the foliage and other parts of the plants.
Will we be reading about the Zaragoza Zygocactus - as tall as a building - in the Guiness Book of World Records? Maybe you posted the wrong picture by mistake. There ARE hibiscus and relations with superficially similar flowers. http://www.malvaceae.info/
